Viimeiset kaksi poikasta lähtivät tänään klo  7:55:31 ja 8:05:17. Pönttö on nyt tyhjä, puhdistettu ja odottaa uutta pesintää. Kesä on vasta alussa ja on aivan mahdollista, että kirjosieppo voisi vasta aloittaa pesinnän. Tiaisetkin voivat pesiä toistamiseen.

The last two chicks left today at 7:55:31 and 8:05:17. The box is now empty, cleaned, and waiting for another nesting. Summer is just beginning and it is quite possible that an European pied flycatcher could be just starting to nest. Tits could also nest for a second time.

Tässä näkyy ampiainen, jota emo oli tuomassa poikaselle, joka olikin jo lähtenyt. En ole tiennyt, että talitiaiset voivat syödä ampiaisia. Niitä on on tuotu poikasten ruoaksi ennenkin.

Here you can see a wasp that the mom was bringing to the chick, which had already left. I didn't know that Great Tit can eat wasps.

Pönttö aukeaa kätevästi etupuolelta, eikä sitä tarvitse irrottaa seinästä huoltoa varten.

The box opens conveniently from the front and does not need to be removed from the wall for maintenance.

Pesä on karun näköinen; kaksi kuollutta poikasta päällä, niiden alla oli vielä yksi. Ensimmäisenä kuollutta ei löytynyt. 

The nest is ugly; two dead chicks on top, with another one underneath. The first one to die was not found.

There were some larvae between the nest and the bottom.

Tikan pesäkin löytyi. Se on ihan näköetäisyyden päässä kamerapöntöstä, aidan takana metsän puolelle, lahossa koivussa. Matkaa n. 40 metriä. Poikaset paljastaa huudollaan sen pitkän matkan päähän, nyt se kuului hyvin pihalle saakka.

The woodpecker's nest was found. It's just within sight of the camera box, behind the fence in the woods, in a decaying birch tree. It's about 40 meters away. The chicks reveal it with their voice, it could be heard well into the yard.

Thank you to all who watched, maybe we will have another nesting soon, maybe not until next summer. Next summer we will have a gate counter in the box, which will automatically count all visits of birds.
